Alexander Roys; Distant
At the core of ALEXANDER ROYS‘ brand identity stands the concept of Futurism, understood as visions of time and space that are yet to come. With the future both being the source of inspiration and the strived for ideal in terms of aesthetics, the brand proposes a vision of how men will dress in the future. Thus, a connection between the present and future is created by making garments of the future already available today.
Roys, FW18 collection “Distant,” was inspired by ideas and concepts of science-fiction, utopian future, technology, etc. Roys worked with materials such as spandex, neopren and softshell, all of which were used across a variety of styles and product categories, ranging from beautifully tailored jackets, coats and trousers, jumpers, long sleeves, t-shirts, etc. Functional elements like closure systems seem to disappear in this collection in order to emphasize the strong silhouette and sublime details like seams at elbow level for instance.Tops are finished off with a subtle logo detail on the upper back, inspired by the German electronic music pioneers Kraftwerk, to whom Roys pays homage with the usage of the two signature colors of the collection: black and red.
